Board of Directors
Janice Sands has served as executive director of The Pen and Brush, Inc. since 1998. She has over 45 years of experience in nonprofit management and administration and has served as director for Planned Parenthood and The Los Angeles County Bar Association. Her work with arts and entertainment organizations began in 1992 when she became the executive director of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and subsequently a strategic planning consultant to the Actors Fund of America. Janice has written legal education curriculum for the Constitutional Rights Foundation and contributed various articles for Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine and contributed to a U.S. congressional research paper on Huntington’s Chorea. She has participated in several arts organization panel presentations for the Arts and Business Council of New York, the Council for Arts and Humanities of Staten Island, and the Women’s Studio Center. She is a member of ArtTable, a national organization for professional women in the visual arts. Through Pen and Brush she is also a member of Americans for the Arts, the Arts and Business Council of New York and the New York Nonprofit Coordinating Committee. She personally has also received a Los Angeles mayoral citation for literacy advocacy in the Los Angeles public school system. Janice is a graduate of the UCLA professional School of Public Affairs, Department of Social Welfare.
An adoring student of Michael McGowan at the Spence School from 2002 to 2009, LeeAna Wolfman could not be more grateful to be a part of Flight Path Dance Project. After thirteen years at Spence LeeAna attended Colorado College, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa as an Art History major and Museum Studies minor. After earning her degree LeeAna returned home to New York and began working at the Ronald S. Lauder Neue Galerie New York, an institution that remains an important part of her life. She continues to volunteer as a docent at the museum and serves as a co-chair of their young membership group, the Junior Council. Following her time at the Neue Galerie, LeeAna worked as the registrar of the fine art department at the auction house Doyle New York, and thereafter was hired as the director of the Old Master paintings gallery Otto Naumann Ltd, a role she held until its closing in the summer of 2018. LeeAna currently acts as the founding director of Ambrose Naumann Fine Art, which opened its doors on the Upper East Side in October 2018 and deals in the sale of 19th and 20th century paintings and works on paper. She is also a proud member of the Evelyn G. Haynes Fund Advisory Board, which benefits the Visual Arts and Art History programs at the Spence School.
Sylvie Scowcroft is a New York native producer and performer. A graduate of The Spence School and then Colorado College with a degree in Mathematical Economics and Dance, she has always straddled the performing arts and business worlds. She has worked in Risk Management at Bank of America as well as held various Financial and Operational roles at tech companies including FanVision Entertainment and Eden Technologies. On the creative side she has produced a number of original musicals including Galapago (Braver and Moore), Freda (Taproot) and Medusa the Musical (Braver & Dean) which is scheduled to debut Off-Broadway in the year 2020. She aims to combine her experience in economic problem solving with her artistic capabilities to create practical, effective solutions for art making and provide more opportunities for artists to more easily be artists.
Ginger Norman is Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel at Canyon Partners, LLC, a global investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles. Prior to joining Canyon, Ms. Norman was an attorney with Debevoise & Plimpton and Paul Weiss in New York City, focusing on legal and regulatory issues for a variety of corporate clients. She is a graduate of Columbia Law School (J.D.), where she was named a James Kent Scholar, Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and recipient of the Carroll G. Harper Prize for achievement in Intellectual Property Studies. Before attending law school, Ms. Norman spent most of her life on stage, dancing in numerous shows at Radio City Music Hall, Tokyo Disneyland, in Broadway touring companies, regional theatre productions, televised events, and even the occasional music video! She attended Southern Methodist University, where she earned her B.F.A. in Dance Performance as well as a B.A. in English literature. Ms. Norman lives in Los Angeles with her two sons and is delighted to be part of the Flight Path family.
Michael McGowan began his dance training at his mother’s dance studio in Clarksburg, WV. He continued his studies in various training programs at West Virginia University, National Academy of the Arts and North Carolina School of the Arts. He is a proud graduate of the Harid Conservatory of Dance in Boca Raton, FL where he studied with Tina Santos, Marjorie and Maria Tallchief, Helgi Tomasson, David Howard and Patricia Wilde, among others. Michael was a member of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago under the artistic direction of Lou Conte. With HSDC he toured the world performing the works of Twyla Tharp, Bob Fosse, Daniel Ezralow and Margo Sappington, among others. He was a guest artist of River North Dance Chicago under the artistic direction of Sherry Zunker, and appeared in a documentary about the company titled Reality of a Dreamer. He was also featured in Love in Four Acts for WTTW Chicago choreographed by the late Claire Battaille. Michael is forever grateful to Claire, Lou and Sherry for inspiring him to continue the legacy of artistic mentorship. Michael was the founder and Artistic Director of Kitchen Sink Dance Company and its satellite pre-professional ensemble. He continued his teaching and choreography at the Spence School in NYC, where he was the Chair of the Performing Arts Department and director of the dance program for fourteen years. Michael was awarded a choreographic residency with the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming. His work there ultimately led to the development of Flight Path Dance Project. Michael lives in NYC with his husband Steven Lutvak, who composed the music and co-authored the lyrics for the Tony Award-winning Best Musical A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and their daughter Eliot Rose.
Tony Award-winner and five-time Tony Award nominee Laura Benanti is a highly celebrated stage and screen actress, currently starring on Broadway as Eliza Doolittle in Lincoln Center’s revival of My Fair Lady. Before that, Benanti was most recently seen onstage in Steve Martin's hit Broadway play, Meteor Shower. Other Broadway roles include Amalia Balash in She Loves Me (Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee), Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy opposite Patti LuPone (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards), Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Tony nomination, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards winner), Into the Woods (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle nominations), In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play, The Wedding Singer, Nine (starring Antonio Banderas). Other distinguished theater performances include Perdita in The Winter's Tale at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Anne in A Little Night Music at the L.A. Opera, Eileen in Wonderful Town, and Rosabella in The Most Happy Fella, both for City Center Encores! Her television credits include recurring and guest appearances on “Younger,” “The Detour,” “Supergirl,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “Nashville,” “The Good Wife,” “Elementary,” “Nurse Jackie,” “The Big C,” NBC’s “The Sound of Music Live” and as First Lady Melania Trump on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
Linda Cho is a Tony Award winning costume designer based in New York City. In 2014 she won the Antoinette Perry and Henry Hewes Design Award for the musical A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love and Murder. In 2017 she was nominated for a Tony, Outer Critics’ Circle and Drama Desk for Best Costume Design of the musical Anastasia. Additionally, she has been awarded the TDF/Irene Sharaff Young Master Award, the Henry Hewes Design Award, and the Ruth Morley Design Award from the League of Professional Theatre Women. In New York her designs have been seen at the Theater for a New Audience, Lincoln Center 3, Second Stage, Manhattan Theater Club, Julliard Theater and Opera, NY Public Theater, Asia Society, Vineyard Theater, Classic Stage Co., Labrynth Theater Co, Drama Dept, and Atlantic Theater Co. Internationally her work has been seen at Royal Shakespeare Co. UK, Can Stage Canada, Hong Kong Performing Arts Center, National Theater, Taipei, and Stratford Shakespeare in Canada. Regionally she has designed at Arena Stage, The Ford’s Theater, The Old Globe Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, ACT, Berkeley Rep, Hartford Stage, Long Wharf Theater, Guthrie Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Goodspeed Opera, Williamstown Theater Festival, Goodman Theater, Shakespeare Theater, DC, Chicago Shakespeare, Center Stage, Huntington Theater, and Westport Country Playhouse. She served as the American Costume Design Curator from 2007-2011 for the International Prague Quadrennial. Linda attended the Paris American Academy, McGill University (BA) and the Yale School of Drama (MFA).
Annabel Edelson works as a Product Manager at Pipefy Inc. in San Francisco, where she manages product planning and development with a team of engineers, building a software solution for process management. Before joining Pipefy, Annabel led product growth at Feastly, a platform for chefs to host bespoke popup dining experiences. Annabel graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Engineering Sciences and Sculpture. She was born and raised in New York City, where she attended the Spence School. There, she had the incredible fortune of studying dance with Michael McGowan for eight years. Annabel now lives in San Francisco, taking full advantage of access to the outdoors as well as the great coffee.
Randy Graff received the Tony and Drama Desk awards for her role in City of Angels, as well as Outer Critics, Drama Desk, and Tony award nominations for her work in A Class Act. Ms. Graff has the distinction of creating the role of Fantine in the original Broadway production of Les Misérables for which she received a Helen Hayes Award nomination. Also on Broadway, she starred opposite Alfred Molina in Fiddler on the Roof, receiving a Drama League nomination, Laughter on the 23rd Floor with Nathan Lane, Moon Over Buffalo opposite Carol Burnett, and in Falsettos, High Society, and Grease. Off Broadway, Ms. Graff costarred in Richard Greenberg’s The Babylon Line at Lincoln Center Theater (Lortel Award), Paula Vogel’s The Long Christmas Ride Home at the Vineyard Theater (Drama League nomination), Motherhood Out Loud for Primary Stages, Do Re Mi with Nathan Lane for New York City Center’s Encores!, and Damn Yankees with Sean Hayes for Encores! Summer Stars. Ms. Graff has performed in theaters across the country, including San Diego’s Old Globe, where she portrayed legendary columnist Ann Landers as The Lady With All the Answers (a one-woman show), and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where she portrayed Countess Charlotte Malcolm in A Little Night Music in the renowned Sondheim Festival in 2002. She can be heard on numerous original Broadway cast recordings and her own solo album, “Randy Graff Sings Cy Coleman.” She also performs her one woman show “Randy Graff…Made In Brooklyn” across the country. Ms. Graff is on the Musical Theater faculty at Manhattan School of Music. She holds an honorary doctorate from Wagner College in Theatre Arts.
Steven Lutvak made his Broadway debut as composer/co-lyricist of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which won the Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Tony Awards for Best Musical of 2014. Since Broadway, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder has had two National Tours, and has opened in Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Melbourne and Stockholm. Steven wrote the title track to Paramount’s hit film Mad Hot Ballroom, and the score to Anything But Love starring Eartha Kitt and Andrew McCarthy. As a singer/songwriter, he has performed his songs around the country, including at such prestigious New York venues as Carnegie Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, and The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel. His songs are discussed in the Classic American Popular Song, the follow-up to Alec Wilder’s classic book, American Popular Song. His two CDs are The Time it Takes and Ahead of My Heart. Steven won the Kleban and Fred Ebb Awards for Songwriting for the Theater, both with Robert L. Freedman, his writing partner on A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Steven is also the winner of the Johnny Mercer Emerging American Songwriting Award, the ASCAP Foundation Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, an NEA New American Works Grant, and is the only two-time recipient of the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Grant. An adjunct Professor at his Alma Mater, Steven teaches songwriting in the Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Steven lives in New York City with his husband, choreographer Michael McGowan, and their daughter Eliot Rose.
Charles Wallace (Wally) Munro
Wally began his career in the professional theater at the age of six, mentored by fellow company actors Dixie Carter and George Hearn, with whom he appeared in equity productions. Selected for the first class at the North Carolina School of the Arts, he received his university education in theater and dramatic arts, going on to appear in over 50 productions, including dinner theater, the celebrated Starlight Theater of Kansas City MO, and various national tours, working with stars including Ethel Merman, Lauren Bacall, Leonard Nimoy, and Bobby Morse. Wally also appeared Off-Broadway and on Broadway in Fiddler on the Roof with Zero Mostel, and in Harold Prince’s legendary 1974 production of Candide. Since retiring from performing, Wally spent the next 36 years at the Actors’ Fund of America, a national human services organization for entertainment professionals, where he created and then for 20 years held the position of Director of Planned Giving. During his tenure with the Fund, he also held a variety of positions in fundraising, public relations, and administration. He has recently retired from The Fund and is devoting his time to many community organizations. Wally served on the Council of Actors Equity Association for ten years, as an adult leader and trainer for the Nassau Council of Boy Scouts, coached soccer for the Police Athletic league (PAL) and was publicly elected to the Seaford (Long Island) School Board, serving for 6 years, three of them as President. Wally is a Past President of the Planned Giving Group of Greater New York (PGGGNY) and is past Chair of National Committee on Planned Giving (now the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning). He is a past member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, the Planned Giving Round Table of Southern California and the European Association for Planned Giving. He is a member of the St. Andrew's Society of New York and serves on its Almoners Committee for scholarships and financial aid to individuals of Scottish descent. Wally and his wife, Janice Sands, live on Manhattan’s Upper Eastside.
Kenneth L. Roberson
Kenneth L. Roberson is a theatre director, choreographer and professor. Broadway choreography credits: Avenue Q; All Shook Up; Purlie (City Center; Encores!) and John Lequizamo’s Freak. Off-Broadway choreography credits of note: A Boy and His Soul (Lucille Lortel nominee), George C. Wolfe’s Harlem Song (Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk Nominations); Seven Guitars and Piano Lesson both at Second Stage, Wycliff Gordon’s Jazz a La Carte as director and choreographer. A veteran Broadway Performer, Kenneth has appeared in Black and Blue Oh’Kay and Jelly’s Last Jam, in addition to international tours. He has taught workshops specializing in the Black Vernacular of Theatre nationally and internationally. As a performance artist and writer, Kenneth's one-man shows have played The New York Public Theatre, Joe’s Pub, Triad Theatre, and Baltimore Center Stage. Lastly, he is the recent winner of NPT's New York Writers Festival for his new Gospel musical in progress, WE AIN’T PERFECT. Kenneth is a native of Thomson, Georgia and graduate of the University of Georgia's Henry Grady School of Journalism.
Amanda Ryzowy currently works in Real Estate Private Equity at L+M Development Partners, acquiring and repositioning multifamily housing within the New York Metro Area. Prior to joining L+M in 2013, Amanda worked in the Commodity Finance group within J.P. Morgan’s investment bank. Amanda graduated from MIT, with a degree in Physics and is from New York City. She grew up dancing at the School of American Ballet and met Michael McGowan when he was the prized dance teacher at her alma mater, The Spence School. Amanda currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Joel, and their son, Rafael (“Rafa”).
Emily Shaffer is a television and theater actor with credits including: "FBI" [CBS], "NCIS: New Orleans" [CBS], "The Good Fight" [CBS], "Law & Order SVU" [NBC] and "Chicago Med" [NBC]. She also works as an office manager at IPSoft, an AI company where she organizes events and does media outreach as well as executive assisting. She is from Clarksburg, West Virginia where she earned her MFA in Acting with a minor in Dance from West Virginia University. Her love of the arts and performing was born of her childhood being spent with Bonnie and Michael McGowan at Momentum Dance Center and with Kitchen Sink Dance Company. She now lives in New York City and balances all her projects with the wonderful company of her husband, Vance, and dog, Margot.
Vicki Warner lives on the Upper East Side where she raised her two daughters, Haley and Emi. She is a Real Estate Agent with Sloane Square in Manhattan. She also serves as President of Friends of JCC Krakow, serves on the Board of directors of JCC Krakow, is Co-chair of Manhattan Women’s Philanthropy of UJA and sits on the Advisory Board of Park Avenue Synagogue.
